STRYHAS TAKES HOME THIRD PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD OF THE SEASON

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State sophomore Anton Stryhas has been named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week in men's tennis.

Stryhas, who entered this past weekend 12-1 in singles competition this season, continued his winning ways, this time against Big Sky competition. The sophomore went 4-0 in matches over the weekend, winning both of his contests at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Stryhas took down Jeffrey Morys of Northern Arizona, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 on Saturday, before defeating Vinnie Fallico of Northern Colorado 6-1, 6-1 on Sunday.

He also teamed with freshman doubles partner Kiryl Harbatsiuk for two victories at No. 1 doubles, defeating Chris Arena and Bradley Briscoe of Northern Arizona 8-6, and Vinnie Fallico and Paul Tschetter of Northern Colorado 8-4.

He has won 12 straight singles matches, including the last three at the No. 1 position. He has also teamed with Harbatsiuk for seven straight victories at No. 1 doubles. He is now 14-1 in singles matches this season, and holds a 12-2 doubles record.

For Stryhas, a native of Minsk, Belarus, the award marks his third of the season, and fifth of his career.

The Sacramento State men's tennis returns to the court on Friday and Saturday, as they travel to Montana and Montana State.
