HARBATSIUK NAMED BIG SKY MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State freshman Kiryl Harbatsiuk was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced today. Harbatsiuk helped lead the Hornets to a 2-0 record last week, which included victories over local rivals UC Davis (6-1) and Pacific (4-3). The Minsk, Belarus, native went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position and teamed with Anton Stryhas to go 2-0 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Harbatsiuk began the week on Saturday by dispatching of UC Davis’ Henri Landes, 6-2, 6-2. He also won at No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-1. On Sunday, he beat Pacific’s Moritz Starke by the score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. He and Stryhas also won at No. 1 doubles, 8-4, over Pacific’s tandem of David Gonzalez and Starke.
A true freshman, Harbatsiuk has now played at No. 1 singles, and No. 1 doubles in every match this season. He is 5-1 in singles play (three of those five victories coming in straight sets), and has won each of his last three matches. In doubles, he has teamed with Stryhas in every match, and the duo is 5-1, including three straight wins.
