SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State’s Gabriel Loredo, Warwick Foy and Ramon Perez, scored victories in both their singles and doubles matches to lead the Hornets to a 4-3 win at San Francisco on Thursday afternoon.Sacramento State improves to 10-6 on the season, while the Dons fall to 5-12.
The Hornets split the singles matches with San Francisco, led by Loredo, Foy and Perez, who all notched victories. At the No. 2 spot, Loredo improved 12-4 on the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Korbinian Kramer. Foy then earned a win at the No. 3 spot, defeating Fernando Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 (7-5). Foy improves to 12-4 in 2006. Perez picked up the Hornets’ third singles victory with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Andrew Hogan.
The Hornets’ No. 1 singles player, Junaid Hossain fell 7-5, 6-2 to Matthew Berry, while Thomas Morton suffered a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Thon Tu at the No. 4 spot. San Francisco’s Greg Hom defeated Sacramento State’s Hague Van Dillen, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 6 spot.
The Hornets were able to gain the doubles point with Hossain and Loredo teaming at the No. 1 spot to defeat Berry and Rodriguez, 9-7. The pair are now 14-2 this season.
Foy and Perez easily handled San Francisco, 8-1, at the No. 2 spot to earn the doubles point.
The Hornets will next play Loyola Marymount at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
