SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Juanid Hossain and Gabriel Loredo each picked up a pair of wins to help lead the Sacramento State men’s tennis team to a 5-2 win over Idaho State on Sunday afternoon.The victory improved the Hornets to 7-5 overall and 3-0 against Big Sky Conference teams. Hossain and Loredo teamed up in the No. 1 doubles match and defeated Marc Pijoan and Alan Mahadeb, 8-5. ISU answered back at No. 2 where Pablo Garcces and Alex Danilkovich defeated Warwick Foy and Ramon Perez, 8-3. The Bengals were then awarded the doubles point when the Hornets defaulted at No. 3.
In singles play, Hossian led the Hornet attack with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Pijoan at No. 1. Loredo downed Danilkovich, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2. Sacramento State also picked up three wins in the bottom half of the order. Thomas Morton beat Masimba Rumo, 6-7 (7-5), 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Perez earned a 6-2, 6-3, win over Ryo Sakamoto and Hague Van Dillen bettered Mohadeb, 6-4, 6-4.
Idaho State’s lone singles victory came at No. 3 where Garces defeated Foy, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.
Sacramento State returns to action on Mar. 24, against Eastern Washington at the Rio Del Oro Raquet Club.
