SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Despite sweeping the top three singles matches, the Sacramento State men’s tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to UC Davis, Saturday afternoon at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.The Aggies claimed the first point of the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. Justin Garcia and Michael Chin defeated Juanid Hossain and Gabriel Loredo, 8-4, at No. 1. UC Davis also won at No. 2 where Jordan Combs and Jayce Fitch beat Warwick Foy and Ramon Perez, 8-4. The Hornets prevented the doubles sweep when Hague Van Dillen and Paul Komorniczak downed Casey and Kyle McMakin, 8-5.
In singles play, all six matches were decided in straight sets. The Hornets seized the lead with three victories at the top of the ladder. Loredo, who was playing No. 1 for the first time this season, defated Fitch, 6-1, 6-2. Hossain beat Chin, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 and Foy knocked off Combs, 6-3, 6-4.
The results were opposite at the bottom of the lineup. Garcia pulled the Aggies closer with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Van Dillen at No. 5. Casey McMakin then defeated Ramon Perez, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 to tie match ,3-3. The final point swung in favor the Aggies where Henri Landes beat Thomas Morton, 6-4, 6-2.
