AGGIES EDGE HORNETS 4-3 IN MEN'S TENNIS

DAVIS, Calif. - Sacramento State dropped a 4-3 decision to UC Davis Saturday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Aggies, playing in their home opener, took the doubles point and held on to claim three victories in singles to pick up the win. Casey McMakin posted a pair of wins, including the clinching match in singles.

In doubles, Sacramento State (1-2) picked up the first win at No. 1 before UC Davis (1-4) came back to claim a win at No. 3 when C. McMakin and Kyle McMakin defeated Thomas Morton and Ramon Perez, 8-4. The Aggies'' Michael Chin and Justin Garcia followed with an 8-5 win at No. 2 over Warwick Foy and Hague Van Dillen giving UC Davis a 1-0 lead.

In singles, Sacramento State''s Junaid Hossian won the first match defeating Jordan Combs (6-3, 6-3), at No. 1.

The Aggies followed with a victory from Jayce Fitch, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, over Sacramento State''s Gabriel Loredo at No. 2.

At No. 3 the Hornets'' Warwick Foy defeated Chin 6-4, 6-1 and at No. 4 Perez also won, defeating Garcia, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

McMakin then won the final match of the day with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Van Dillen at No. 5. and UC Davis'' Landes defeated Morton 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
