4/30/2005

Senior Peter Farkas played in his final match for Sacramento State, a 4-0 loss to Montana State in the Big Sky Championship.
PHOENIX, Ariz.—The Sacramento State men’s tennis team could not stop No. 68 Montana State as the Bobcats rolled to a 4-0 win, to claim their second-straight Big Sky Conference title, Saturday morning at the Phoenix Tennis Center. With the loss, the Hornets end their season with a 11-14 record while the Bobcats improved to 19-6. The Hornets and Bobcats have each won the last eight Big Sky championships; Sacramento State won in 1998, 1999, 2001-03. MSU won the title in 2000 and now the last two years.

Montana State opened the day by claiming the doubles point with wins at the one and the three. The doubles match at the two was stopped due to the Bobcats clinching the point. At the one, senior Peter Farkas and junior Junaid Hossain fell to Marek Gebicki and Braden Olson, 8-4. At the three, junior Thomas Morton and sophomore Joakim Rydberg were defeated by Kyle McDonald and Jake Berriochoa, 8-4.
