The Hornets started the day by winning two of the three doubles matches to claim the point. At the one, junior Juniad Hossein and sophomore Joakim Rydberg fell to Ryan Stotland and David Kowalski, 8-4. At the three, sophomores Warwick Foy and Ramon Perez defeated Derek Boland and Eric Conklin, 8-5. Sacramento State claimed the doubles point at the two where seniors Matt Jones and Peter Farkas defeated Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski, 9-8 (5).

In singles play, Jones dropped a frustrating match to Stotland, 7-5, 7-5, at the one. Hossein fell to 0-4 on the year with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Max Jones, at the two. Rydberg fell his match at the three to Kowalski, 6-2, 6-4. At the four, Perez dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Pajkowski. Foy fell to 3-2 as he lost his match to Conklin, 6-3, 7-5, at the five. At the six, Farkas fell to Boland, 7-5, 6-3.

Sacramento State returns to action next Wednesday, Mar. 2 as the Hornets travel to Athens, Ga., take on No. 8 Georgia. First serve against the Bulldogs is set for 11:30 a.m. PST. The match marks a homecoming for head coach Sherif Zaher as he played his first two seasons with Georgia, in which as a sophomore in 1999, the Bulldogs won the national championship. Zaher then played one season in his native Egypt before transfering to Sacramento State as a junior in 2001.
