BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Sacramento State men’s tennis team tried to rally after losing the doubles point, however, their quest for victory fell one point short as the Hornets were defeated by host Montana State, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the MSU/Anderson Tennis Center. With the victory, Montana State clinched the No. 1 seed for the Big Sky Conference Tournament in two weeks. The Hornets fell to 11-9 overall, 3-2 in the Big Sky while the Bobcats improved to 14-4 overall, 5-0 in league play.

Montana State opened the afternoon by sweeping all three doubles matches to win the point. At the No. 1 doubles, senior Nick Sheehan and freshman Joakim Rydberg fell to Marek Gebicki and Braden Olson, 8-3. At the two, juniors Matt Jones and Peter Farkas were defeated by Federico Ueltschi and Tejeshwara Chigateri, 8-5. At the three, freshmen Warwick Foy and Assad Malik fell to Jake Berriochoa and Adam Stutts, 9-8.

In singles play, Jones lost for the second-consecutive day as he fell to Ueltschi at the one, 6-1, 6-2. At the two, Rydberg picked up his third-straight win as he defeated Gebicki, 6-3, 6-4.
