Stanford opened the match by winning the doubles point. Senior Sherif Zaher and freshman Matthew Jones lost the first six points of their match against the Cardinal duo of Scott Lipsky and David Martin, before falling 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Senior Fabio Jesus and freshman Peter Farkas fell to Ryan Haviland and Sam Warburg, 8-3 at the two. Senior Josh Price and sophomore Nick Sheehan had their match against Joe Kao and Phil Sheng suspended with Sheng serving at match point (40-15) when the doubles point was secured.

In singles action, Zaher lost at No. 1 to Martin, 6-2, 6-2, which clinched the match for Stanford. At the two, Jesus was trailing Lipsky 6-2, 5-2, with Lipsky at match point when Zaher lost. At No. 3 singles, Jones lost the first set to Haviland, 6-3, before evening the second set at 4-4 when the match ended. Freshman Ali Abbou lost the first set of his No. 4 singles match against Sheng, 6-3, before taking the second set, 6-3, when the match was stopped. Sheehan lost his No. 5 match to Sacramento native Warburg, 6-0, 6-0. Farkas was defeated by Kao, 6-1, 6-2, at the six.

Saturday''s match marked the final matches for Zaher, Jesus and Price. Zaher, who was named Big Sky MVP for the second-consecutive year on Thursday, finished his two-year career at Sacramento State with a singles record of 29-13 and a doubles record of 28-12.
