Sacramento State opened things up by winning all three doubles matches to win the point. The tandem of senior Fabio Jesus and freshman Peter Farkas defeated the Viking duo of Kapil Desai and Mark Simpson, 8-1. Senior Josh Price and sophomore Nick Sheehan was leading Tanner Gates and Chcuk Haselwood, 5-4, at the No. 2 spot when Portland State conceeded the doubles point. Freshmen Ali Abbou and Matthew Jones won their match by default.

In singles play, Jesus defeated Desai at the one, 6-2, 6-1. At the No.2 spot, Jones defeated Gates, 6-0, 6-3. Abbou won his No. 3 position match over Haselwood, 6-1, 6-2. Abbou improved his record on the year to 12-7. Sheehan won his match at the four, defeating Sinpson, 6-1, 6-2. Farkas (No. 5) won his match over Cody Hoversland, 6-1, 6-1. Price was supposed to play at No. 6, but PSU defaulted to the Hornets.

Sacramento State wraps up Big Sky regional play tomorrow morning against host Weber State. Sacramento State will look to lock up the No. 1 seed out of the Big Sky Pacific Regional for the Big Sky Championships, Apr. 26-28. The Hornets defeated the Wildcats back on March 14, 5-0. Sacramento State is a perfect 5-0 all-time vs. WSU. Match time is set for 9 a.m. MDT.
