MEN’S TENNIS SIGNS HENRIK RAAG AND OLIVER ANDERSEN
5/16/2012

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento State men’s tennis program announced the signing of Oliver Andersen and Henrik Raag. Andersen will enroll as a junior while Raag a freshmen at the University in the fall of 2012.
The signings should strengthen a Sacramento State roster that was already the youngest in school history. The Hornets recently won their fourth straight Big Sky Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament despite using four freshmen in the singles lineup in every match.
Andersen, who is a 6-foot-4 native of Copenhagen, Denmark, played the past two seasons at Seminole State College in Seminole, Okla. He played at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 in the Trojans’ singles lineup during his two years while combining to win five fall tournaments and posting a 34-8 spring dual record. That includes a 15-2 mark this season.
Andersen helped Seminole State to its first-ever No. 1 national ranking in the ITA Junior/Community College Men’s Rankings during his freshman season. He played 15 years for the KB Tennis Club of Copenhagen, where he won multiple junior U16 and U18 tournaments, including a Danish doubles national championship. Andersen, who won three Danish team championships with KB, was also periodically ranked as the No. 1 juniors player in Denmark as an U16 and U18 player.
Raag, a 6-foot-1 left-hander from Tallinn, Estonia, will graduate this year from Tallinn Audentes Sports Gymnasium (high school). Raag played four years for the US Tennis Academy in Tallinn, where he posted a 5-0 record at the 2010 Estonian Club Championships.
Raag has played in numerous International Tennis Federation tournaments. Some of those include a semifinal doubles appearance at the 2011 Latvian Open, a quarterfinal (singles) and semifinal (doubles) appearance at the 2011 Plovidiv Cup in Bulgaria, championship-match doubles appearances at the 2010 Indonesia International Junior Tennis Championships and the 2010 Hong Kong Open Junior Championships, and a quarterfinal appearance at the 2010 Siauliai Mayor’s Cup in Lithuania.
Andersen and Raag will join a 2012-13 Sacramento State roster that will include nine underclassman. In fact, Andersen (junior) and Aliaksandr Malko (senior) will be the only two upperclassmen on the squad.
