MEN’S TENNIS FALLS IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON ROAD MATCH AT MONTANA STATE, 5-2

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Despite singles wins from Mikus Losbergs and Hermont Legaspi, Sacramento State fell at Montana State, 5-2, in a Big Sky Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. The match marked the final regular season road contest of the year for the Hornets.

Sacramento State lost for the first time all season in a Big Sky road match as the team had already won away from home against Eastern Washington, Idaho, Portland State and Montana. That included a 4-3 victory at Montana on Thursday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Hornets to 6-11 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Each of Sacramento State's final three regular season matches will come vs. Big Sky opposition at home, beginning next Saturday vs. Weber State. With the victory, Montana State, which was playing for just the third time at home all season, improved to 3-9 overall and 2-3 in the Big Sky.

The Hornets picked up their lone singles wins from Losbergs at No. 1 (6-3, 7-6) and Legaspi at No. (6-2, 5-7, 6-2). Losbergs has now won three of his last four singles matches and improved to 4-2 in league contests. Legaspi has five of his last six singles matches and is now 9-7 overall this season.

Montana State opened the match by winning at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to pick up the doubles point. Sacramento State still has not won a match this season when dropping the doubles point (0-9).

The Bobcats also won in straight sets at Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singes. That included true freshman Johannes Gjerdaker losing for the just the second time all season against a conference foe when he fell at No. 4 by a 7-6, 6-3 score.

Sacramento State's final three matches (all at home) will come against Weber State on the 13th, Idaho State on the 14th and Northern Colorado on the 20th. The Big Sky Tournament will take place April 25-27 in Phoenix, Ariz.
