MORAGA -- Sacramento State competed in the fourth of five scheduled fall tournaments last weekend at the Saint Mary's Invitational.

Sacramento State used eight players at the three-day tournament, comprised of seniors Mikus Losbergs, Dom Miller and Bernardo Moraes, juniors Louis Chabut and Hermont Legaspi, and freshmen Josh Snowdon-Poole, Johannes Gjerdaker and Abdulaziz Albayouk.

In all, Hornet players combined for six singles wins and six doubles victories. Each of the seven Sacramento State players won at least one doubles match while Chabut highlighted singles play by reaching the semifinal round of his draw.

Chabut, who was competing in the B bracket, defeated opponents from Pacific, UC Davis and Cal Poly to reach the semifinal round. In the semis, however, he fell to the Aggies' Alex Scemanenco, 7-5, 6-3. Two of his singles wins came in three sets, and he had little trouble with Cal Poly's Roman Shenkiryk (6-2, 6-1) in the quarterfinals.

Losbergs was victorious in a pair of singles matches in the A bracket, winning in straight sets against UC Davis' Mitchell Iwahiro and Fresno State's Henrique Wojcienowski. Losbergs' run came to an end when he fell in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) in the quarters to Saint Mary's Daniel Krutik.

In doubles play, the combinations of Losbergs/Gjerdaker, Chabut/Legaspi, Moraes/Snowdon-Poole, and Albayouk each won at least one doubles match. Since the Hornets did not enter an even amount of players into the doubles draw. Albayouk played in the tournament with Cal Poly's Gabriel Gilbert. The tandem reached the championship match of the consolation round before falling, 8-7.

Moraes and Snowdon-Poole picked up wins over doubles teams from Saint Mary's and Sonoma State, and finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.

All of Sacramento State's results can be found below.
