BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Sacramento State men's soccer team lost a 4-0 decision at No. 19 ranked Cal State Bakersfield on Friday night in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Main Soccer Field.

The Roadrunners (8-0-4, 4-0-0) remained one of three undefeated teams in the nation (along with Connecticut and New Mexico) with the win while the Hornets (6-5-1, 2-2-0) lost to the Roadrunners for the second time in seven days.

The Hornets have now played three top-25 opponents in four games this season. Head coach Michael Linenberger's squad opened up the year with a 1-0 win at No. 19 Loyola Marymount before losing at No. 8 UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 25 and dropping two games to CSU Bakersfield. The Roadrunners were ranked No. 25 last weekend before moving up to No. 19 this week.

CSU Bakersfield jumped out early, scoring three times in the first half while the Hornets were issued four yellow cards in the first 45 minutes. The Roadrunners tacked on another score in the 90th minute just before the game ended.

CSU Bakersfield had a 17-7 advantage in shots and 2-1 edge in corner kicks. Sacramento State was whistled for 13 fouls while the Roadrunners drew 11 fouls.

Sacramento State used two keepers in the game. Cesar Castillo played the first half and allowed three goals with four saves. Bryan Oliver played the final 45 minutes with one goal allowed and no saves.

The Hornets will now head straight to Seattle for their Sunday matchup with the Redhawks. Sacramento State defeated Seattle U, 2-1, last Sunday on freshman Maxx Bauman's first career goal with just minutes remaining.
