MEN'S SOCCER DRAWS WITH BAKERSFIELD, 1-1

Fernando Cabadas scored the equalizer in the second half and the Hornets tied CSUB, 1-1.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
After playing to a scoreless draw in their first meeting of the season, the Sacramento State men's soccer team and Cal State Bakersfield tied once again, 1-1, on Sunday afternoon at CSUB's Main Soccer Field. The Hornets' record now sits at 6-3-4 (1-1-3 Mountain Pacific Sports Federatioin) while the Roadrunners' record is now 8-3-2 (3-0-2).

Both of the Roadrunners' draws this season have been against the Hornets.

The Roadrunners got on the board first in the 13th minute of the game when Ernesto Hinjosa scored his second goal of the season on an assist from Jesus Sanchez.

But the Hornets would even up the score just after halftime in the 52nd minute when a corner kick by Ernesto Carranza found Fernando Cabadas in the box and Cabadas finished the play with a low strike to the middle of the goal. It was Cabadas' third goal of the season and Carranza's third assist of 2010.

Both teams took 13 shots in the contest while the Hornets had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Bakersfield had a 6-4 advantage in saves.

It was a physical game as 44 fouls were called and seven cards (six yellow, one red) were issued, combined.  

Sacramento State hits the road for both games next weekend when the Hornets travel to Denver and Air Force.
