Head coach Mike Linenberger's squad went 0-2 at the Duke Nike Classic.

DURHAM, N.C. - The Sacramento State men's soccer team lost 4-1 at No. 11 Duke in the last of two games of the Duke Nike Classic at Koskinen Stadium. The Hornets slide to 0-2-0 on the season while the Blue Devils improve to 1-0-1.

Duke jumped out early, scoring three times in a 10-minute span in the first half. Cole Grossman put the Blue Devils on the board first in the 16th minute when his strike from 22 yards out found the top right corner of the net. Ryan Finley took a similar shot in the 19th minute which put Duke up 2-0. Finely scored again in the 26th minute when he took a through ball from Temi Molinar and scored from eight yards away.

In the second half Ernesto Carranza scored his first goal of the season when he slotted in a low shot to the right corner from 12 yards out but Duke also tacked on another score as Finely completed his hat trick with his third goal of the game.

The Blue Devils finished with a 27-7 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Sacramento State keeper Cesar Castillo recorded 11 saves in the freshman's first career start.
