SACRAMENTO STATE FALLS TO STANFORD IN EXHIBITION PLAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State men's soccer team fall to the Stanford Cardinal in exhibition play by the score of 5-1.

Stanford got the scoring underway as Michael Strickland found the back of the net in the 29th minute to make the score 1-0.  The Hornets struck back quickly as junior Blake Nunes scored less than three minutes later off of a pass from his brother Brady to nod the score at 1-1.  The Cardinal went on to score four answered goals to take home a 5-1 victory.

Blake Nunes led the Hornet offensive charge with two shots, both on goal.  Senior Eli Millan, junior Josh Zimbrich and sophomore Cameron Brinitzer each added a shot apiece.

The Cardinal outshot the Hornet 15-5 and took eight corners to just two by Sacramento State.

The Hornets take the pitch for their regular season opener at Dayton on Friday, Aug. 31st.
