McDOUGALL GETS SECOND-CONSECUTIVE SHUTOUT AS MEN'S SOCCER TIES LMU, 0-0

9/14/2003

Sophomore goalkeeper Matt McDougall earned his second shutout of the season as the Sacramento State men’s soccer team and Loyola Marymount played to a 0-0 tie after two-overtime periods, Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Field.

The Hornets improved to 2-2-1 on the year while the Lions upped their record to 3-2-1.

Despite being out shot by LMU 21-8, the Hornets played to a draw with McDougall recording a game-high seven saves. The Sacramento native moves into sole possession of second place in the program career record book with five shutouts. The match also marked the McDougall’s second-consecutive shutout after sitting out Friday’s 2-1 loss to Cal Poly.

The Lions also recorded 14 corner kicks to only one by the Hornets.

Sacramento State will next compete in the Goal Rush Classic in Fresno, Calif., from Sept. 19-21. The Hornet will begin the tournament by facing Alabama A&M on Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m. The squad will complete their weekend on Sunday, Sept. 21, against Gonzaga at 12 p.m.
