MEN'S SOCCER SIGNS BAUMAN TO NLI

2/2/2011

The Hornets signed Maxx Bauman to a National Letter of Intent for the 2011 season.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State men's soccer team and head coach Michael Linenberger have announced the signing of high school standout Maxx Bauman to a National Letter of Intent.

Bauman, out of Mira Costa HS in Mahattan Beach, Calif., is a 5-foot-8, 160-pound midfielder/forward who has played club soccer with both the South Bay Force and most recently, the Pateadores Academy. Pateadores is a club made up of the best players in that area and Bauman has scored four goals through the first six games as the season is currently underway.

"We think Maxx is going to be a very good player," Linenberger said. "He reminds us a lot of former Hornet Scott Crandall. Maxx is full of energy, full of work and he never quits. He has good quickness and speed and we envision him out wide in the midfield or possibly at forward."

The Hornets lose three of their most talented players to graduation, with defender Diego Marroquin, midfielder Fernando Cabadas and midfielder Ernesto Carranza all moving on. Cabadas and Carranza were both selected in the Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft.
