HORNET MEN’S SOCCER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT GAME, 1-0, OVER AIR FORCE

SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Junior forward Sean Luigs’ goal in the 80th minute

gave men's soccer a 1-0 win over Air Force (5-8-1, 2-5 )in a Mountain

Pacific Sports Federation match Friday afternoon at Hornet Field.

The victory gives the Hornets a three-game winning streak and it’s

second straight win in MPSF play. The last winning streak to reach three

games came in the 1997 season.

Both goalkeepers made the contest a defensive stalemate until Hornet

junior defender Marco Martinez cleared a ball for Luigs. With Falcon

goalkeeper Mike Brophy charging on the play, Luigs toed the pass over

his head for the eventual game-winning goal.

Hornet sophomore goalkeeper Joey Hills recorded his second shutout of

the season with a game-high eight saves. Hill’s two shutouts and four

wins lead the team.

Brophy finished the contest with seven saves.

With one game remaining, the Hornets (7-9-1, 2-5) have an opportunity to

finish the season with their best record since an 8-10-1 mark in 1995.

The team will finish the regular season at Hornet Field when it hosts

Denver on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m.
