SAN JOSE, Calif.— Men's soccer (4-9-1) dropped to 0-5 in conference play
with a 4-1 loss to San Jose State (13-0-1, 5-0) at Spartan Stadium.
San Jose State, ranked number one in this week’s NSCAA coaches top 25,
had four different Spartans score goals in the game. Midfielder Ceasar
Gutierrez had three assists on the night.
San Jose State took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a goal by
midfielder Isaias Bardales. Midfielder Gareth Williams gave the Spartans
a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute. Then midfielder Lars Lyssand connected on
another goal in the 62nd minute.
Junior forward Sean Luigs got the Hornets on the board in the 74th
minute off an assist from freshman forward David Fraser.
Midfielder Carter Hernandez ended the scoring for San Jose State in the
80th minute with an unassisted goal.
The Hornets will return to Hornet Field to host Cal Poly on Sunday, Oct.
