Corvallis, Ore.— Men's soccer were swept over the weekend by Oregon
State and Chicago-Illinois by scores of 3-0 in Corvallis, Ore. and are
now 2-2-1 on the season.
The Hornets recorded 11 shots to the Beavers 15 in first round action
Saturday evening, but the team could only manage one shot on goal
compared to Oregon State’s seven.
Ross Duncan, Aaron McHardy and Josh Elbaum each scored unassisted goals
for the Beavers, with the first two coming in the opening period and
Elbaum scoring the lone goal in the second.
On Sunday, the Hornets finished even with Chicago-Illinois with 10 shots
(seven on goal) to the Flames 12 (eight on goal) but could not get a
ball past goalkeeper Chris Jamal, who finished the contest with three
saves.
Chicago-Illinois scored one goal in the first period when Eric Lukin
shot a ball in the right corner in the 32nd minute. The Flames then
scored two more in the second by Jakob Stasko and Nathan Day in the 63rd
and 83rd minute, respectively.
Men's soccer will play its next two games at Hornet Field where the team
is 2-0-1 in the 2000 campaign.
The Hornets will host Vanguard Friday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. and then
finish the weekend against San Jose State Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m.
