NSCAA ADIDAS ALL-AMERICAN KURTIS LINDSEY COMMITS TO MEN'S SOCCER

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State men’s soccer signed Kurtis Lindsey of Moorpark College to a national letter of intent, it was announced today.

Lindsey, who will enroll at Sacramento State in the spring of 2006 , played two seasons at Moorpark College and last season was a junior college NSCAA Adidas All-American selection after helping the Raiders to their first Western State Conference championship in 14 years. He is the second player to sign with Sacramento State out of Moorpark College, as fellow teammate Oscar Sandoval chose the Hornets in March. Lindsey will be a junior when he suits up for the Hornets in the fall of 2006.

In addition to serving as the Raiders’ team captain during his sophomore season, Lindsey was selected as the Western State Conference Player of the Year in 2004 and was a Ventura County Star all-Area Community College selection the past two seasons. As a freshman in 2003, the midfielder was also selected to the Western State Conference first team.

“He is a tireless worker in the defensive midfield,” Sacramento State head coach Michael Linenberger said. “He has great feet and is the glue that holds the team together.”

As a senior at Thousand Oaks HS in 2002, Lindsey was named Marmonte League MVP after helping the team to its first undefeated league season. He was also named County Player of the Year by the Ventura County Star and was a LA Daily News first-team selection. In addition to earning team MVP honors, Lindsey was named to the first-team CIF Southern Section and was a CIF Southern Section State All-Star selection.

As a junior, Lindsey was named Marmonte League defender of the year in 2001. He was named to the Ventura County Star first-team and was also an LA Daily News first-team selection.

At the club level, Lindsey played for the 1985 Cal South ODP team.

For the 2005 signing class, Sacramento State brought in six signees including Oscar Sandoval of Moorpark College, Josh Zimbrich of Del Oro High School, Jeff Buddenbohn of St. Francis High School, David Lopez of Piner High School,  Andrew Gangnuss of Amador Valley High School and Zach Tuss of Natomas High School.
