UNLV COMES FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT MEN'S SOCCER 2-1

The Sacramento State men’s soccer team fell 2-1 to UNLV, Friday night at Johann Memorial Field.

The Rebels (5-9, 4-4) scored two goals in the span of six minutes to come from behind and defeat the Hornets (5-9-1, 4-5) in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match.

After playing to a scoreless half, sophomore Ryan Rhoads scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season, when he found the end of an Eric Ortiz cross and chipped in a shot over UNLV goalkeeper Peter Clitheroe, giving Sacramento State the 1-0 advantage in the 66th minute.

The Rebels quickly responded in the 72nd minute, when Boomer Arbelaez headed in a Brendon Bain corner kick, beating Hornet goalkeeper Matt McDougall and evening the score at 1-1.

In the 77th minute it was Bain on the assist again as he floated in a cross to Rod Dyachenko, who beat McDougall to the left post for the eventual game-winner.

UNLV finished the match with nine shots on goal, while Sacramento State had five. Chris Wessel of UNLV had a match-high four shots on frame, while the Hornets were led by Rhoads and senior Patrick Nelle, who each had two shots on frame.

McDougall finished the match with a match-high seven saves, while Clitheroe had four.

Sacramento State will continue its road trip with a match at San Diego State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
