RABBON, RAMIREZ AND SNEED NAMED TO MPSF ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

WOODLAND, Calif. – Seniors Eric Rabbon and Sam Sneed and sophomore Miguel Ramirez were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men’s Soccer Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced today.

The honor is given to student-athletes who have accumulated a 3.0 gpa or higher, are at least a sophomore academically and have played in at least half of the team’s contests while making a major contribution. The student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the reward is being received.

Rabbon, who earned the honor for the second-consecutive season, ended his Hornet career playing 30 games for the program after transferring from Cosumnes River College. The forward recorded his first goal as a Hornet against New Mexico on Nov. 1, 2002. In his two-year career, Rabbon finished with two goals, one assist and five points. A native of Sacramento, Rabbon registered a 3.40 gpa in business during the season.

Sneed, a native of Park City, Utah, received his second-consecutive honors after posting a team and personal-best seven points (two goals, three assists) while also earning a 3.51 gpa in history. The midfielder ended his Hornet career with 58 appearances, 26 starts, three goals, seven assists and 14 points as a midfielder. Sneed also earned all-MPSF honorable mention and all-MPSF Tournament honors in 2003.

Ramirez earned his first honors after starting all 18 games for the Hornets while recording a goal, two assists and four points. The Fairfield, Calif., native also posted a 3.61 gpa in civil engineering during the season. In two years with the program, the midfielder has appeared in 27 games, including 24 starts. He scored his first collegiate goal against Cal Poly on Sept. 12, 2003.

In 2003, Sacramento State (5-11-2) earned its third-consecutive appearance to the MPSF Tournament (program record) while also hosting the tournament for the first time in school history.
