MEN'S SOCCER INKS TWO MORE ATHLETES TO LETTER OF INTENT

The Sacramento State men’s soccer team signed Brandon Baggett and Jesse Manton to National Letters of Intent, it was announced today. The duo will join Juan Carlos Cortez, Ismael Echeverria, Eric Ortiz and Ryan Rhoads who inked with the program during the early signing period in March. All six signees will enroll at Sacramento State in the fall of 2003.

Baggett is a wide midfielder at Maria Carillo High School in Santa Rosa, Calif. The four-year varsity player led the Pumas to a North Bay League championship in 2002 while also earning all-NBL honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Baggett also led MCHS to a second-place finish in the North Coast Section playoffs in 2001. He is also a member of the Santa Rosa Heat club team and has helped lead the squad to four-consecutive state championships from 1999-2002.

Manton is a left defensive back and teammate of Baggett at Maria Carillo High School. The two-time team captain also helped lead the Pumas to an North Bay League title in 2002. Manton is also a three-time all-NBL selection and was a member of the 2001 squad that placed second in the North Coast Section title game. Manton is also teammates with Baggett with the Santa Rosa Heat and was a member of the Heat’s four-consecutive state titles from 1999-2002.
