McDOUGALL NAMED MPSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Freshman goalkeeper Matt McDougall was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after recording his second shut out of the season and leading the Sacramento State men''s soccer team to a win over San Francisco, it was announced today.

McDougall, a native of Sacramento, Calif., recorded a game-high five saves to lead the Hornets to a 1-0 win over San Francisco on Oct. 11 at Hornet Soccer Field. The Dons outshot the Hornets 20-7 during the contest including a shot-on-goal advantage of 5-1 .

McDougall now leads Sacramento State with two shutouts and a goals-against-average of 0.81. His GAA currently ranks first among goalkeepers in the MPSF. McDougall recorded the first shutout of his Hornet career against Dominican (2-0) on Sept. 22.

Sacramento State will open conference play this weekend as the Hornets travel to Air Force on Friday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. PDT in Cadet Soccer Stadium. The squad will complete its weekend at Denver on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. PDT at Denver Soccer Field.
