SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Defender Keith Burden’s goal in the 77th minute gave Santa Clara a 1-0 win over the Sacramento State men’s soccer team in a non-conference match Tuesday evening at Buck Shaw Stadium.
The Hornets are now 4-7-4 overall and 3-1-2 in MPSF play while the Broncos raised their record to 8-7-0. The game marked the first loss for the Hornets since dropping a 4-1 contest to Air Force on Oct. 12.
Both teams combined for seven shots in the first half before the Broncos gained the advantage in the second half 10-7.
Burden was assisted on the goal by teammate Anthony Chimienti.
Senior goalkeeper Leo Marin led the Hornets with four saves.
The team will next host California on Friday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at Hornet Soccer Field.
