MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO AIR FORCE, 4-1

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Forward Marcus Sagastume recorded two goals to lead the Air Force Academy to a 4-1 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win, Friday afternoon at Hornet Soccer Field. It was the first conference match for both schools.

The Hornets fell to 1-6-2 overall and 0-1 in MPSF play while the Falcons increased their record to 10-2, 1-0.

Sagastume scored his first goal in the 7th minute off an assist by teammate Paul Gagliardi to give the Falcons a 1-0 halftime advantage. Sagastume then added an unassisted goal in the 51st minute. Midfielder Matt Rabe then added an unassisted goal in the 55th minute to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore midfielder Joel Rodriguez scored the only goal for the Hornets in the 70th minute by blasting a shot from 35-yards out on the far right side. For Rodriguez, a native of Vacaville, Calif., it was his second goal on the season.

Air Force sealed the game in the 79th minute when forward Dan Walsh scored off an assist by teammate Brandon Jones.

The four goals scored by the Falcons was the most allowed in a contest by the Hornets this season.

The team will return to Hornet Soccer Field at 2 p.m. against Denver on Sunday, Oct. 14. The game will be the second of a scheduled doubleheader with the Hornet women’s soccer team.
