About Last Week
Sacramento State picked up three points in the Big West standings after going 1-1-0 in two matches last week. Both went to overtime.
On Wednesday, the Hornets defeated the CSUN Matadors, 2-1, just a minute and a half into overtime in Northridge. Oscar Govea gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead midway through the second half. After CSUN found an equalizer minutes later, it was Benji Kikanovic scoring the golden goal game winner roughly 90 seconds into the first overtime period.
The Hornets returned home to host Cal State Fullerton on Saturday. Trailing 1-0 in the final 10 minutes of regulation, Sacramento State found a late equalizer from Jaime Robles. The Hornets and Titans then battled through nearly two full overtime periods before a brilliant Titans volley from 30 yards out sailed into the back of the net for the game-winner in the 109th minute.
Wednesday afternoon's match against the Cal Poly Mustangs is Sacramento State's final regular season home match of the year, and as such, is the team's annual Senior Day celebration. On Wednesday, the Hornets will recognize Christian Guzman, Luis Urias, Matt Carnefix, and Mac Harrington before the start of the match.
