Over the last two years with West Valley College, Korpontinos played in 31 total matches, starting in 25 of them. In his first year with the West Valley Vikings, Korpontinos scored two goals and added an assist. In his second season with West Valley, Korpontinos made 15 of his 25 career starts and scored a career-high four goals and five assists. Two of those four goals were game winners.

Korpontinos and the Vikings were Coast Conference champions in both 2017 and 2018, both under head coach Gaspar Silvera. Korpontinos was named to the league's all-conference second team after his sophomore campaign in 2018.

"Matthew is a versatile attacking player with good college experience from Seattle University and West Valley College," said Linenberger of Korpontinos. "He has an incredible work ethic and will bring some maturity to our young team."

In addition to experience with two different collegiate programs, Korpontinos, a junior, also spent a season playing with the San Jose Earthquakes Academy in 2015-16, where he led his team in goals, scoring 19.

A 2016 graduate of Los Altos High School, Korpontinos was named Newcomer of the Year in 2013 and played Varsity as a freshman.

Korpontinos is the fifth player to sign with the Sacramento State men's soccer program this offseason.
