SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento State men's soccer team closed out their preseason schedule the same way they started it; with a 6-0 shutout win. The Hornets jumped out to a 4-0 lead at half before cruising to a 6-0 victory over Sonoma State in their third and final exhibition contest.

All six goals were scored by a different player Saturday night. The Hornets put their first goal on the scoreboard in the fifth minute when freshman Oscar Govea scored his second goal of the preseason. Fellow freshman Benji Kikanovic picked up the assist on the play.

RJ Moorhouse was responsible for the second goal of the night, sending an incredible shot into the top far corner of the net from nearly 30 yards out. The big kick was the second goal of the preseason for the sophomore midfielder.

Making it 3-0 was senior forward Brad Bumgarner, who scored his third goal of the season. Kikanovic again delivered the assist, his second of the night and third of the preseason.

Kikanovic and Bumgarner switched places for Sacramento State's fourth goal of the half. Kikanovic, who did not play the second half of Saturday night's match, finished the three-game preseason with three goals and four assists.

In the second half, Sacramento State continued to add on. Luis Urias, who came on after half, scored his first goal of the preseason in the 59th minute. On a corner kick from Justin Bedig, Urias headed the ball cleanly into the near high corner to make it a 5-0 match.

Ivan Oseguera scored the games final goal in the 75th minute, again on a corner kick from Bedig. Oseguera punched it in high from right in front of the goal

For Bedig, he finished the night with two assists. Last year, as a freshman, Bedig led the Hornets with seven assists.

The Hornets played three preseason exhibition contests this year, going 2-0-1. They won the first and third matches at home, 6-0, against Bethesda University and Sonoma State, respectively, while playing to a 2-2 draw on the road at Santa Clara.

With the preseason now come to a close, Sacramento State will look toward the regular season schedule. The Hornets first contest of the year is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24 on the road at Portland. They will then travel to Oregon State and CSU Bakersfield before making their home opener on Sept. 2 against San Jose State.
