SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento State men's soccer team kicked off the 2018 preseason on Saturday night with their first of three exhibition matches. The Hornets came out firing, scoring five first-half goals en route to a 6-0 win over Bethesda University.
The five goals in the first half came from three different players. Freshman Benji Kikanovic and senior Brad Bumgarner both scored twice for the Hornets while senior Dom Scotti added the fifth goal of the night just before halftime.
In the second half, RJ Moorhouse drilled home a free kick from just outside the box to give Sacramento State their sixth and final goal.
In total, the Hornets used 22 players in what was the team's first competitive action of the season. Sacramento State, who started training together as a team just over a week ago, will play two more exhibition matches this preseason. They will travel to Santa Clara to face the Broncos on Wednesday, August 15 before hosting Sonoma State on Saturday, August 18.
