SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento State men's soccer is excited to announce that the program will host the Sacramento Republic FC as a part of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Republic FC will play San Francisco City FC at the Sacramento State Soccer Field on Wednesday, May 16 at 5:00 pm.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup features teams from all levels across the country. The Sacramento State men's soccer team will host Republic FC for their second-round match against San Francisco City FC.
"This is a special opportunity for our program," said Men's Soccer head coach Mike Linenberger. "To be involved with a national tournament like the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup while supporting our local soccer club is really exciting."
The match is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16 with a 5:00 pm PDT kickoff. Republic FC fans and Hornets fans alike are invited to attend this unique experience as the Sacramento State men's soccer team hosts this second round match for the annual national tournament.
"We are excited to partner with Sacramento State to play a U.S. Open Cup match at Hornet Soccer Field this year," said Republic FC Chief Operating Officer Ben Gumpert. "We have a great history of collaboration with Sacramento State and look forward to extending that with this match."
Tickets for the match at Hornet Soccer Field on Wednesday, May 16 are $10 for general admission and are on sale now. Find tickets directly though Hornet Athletics and can be found online at HornetSports.com/Tickets and selecting "Men's Soccer" or by calling (916) 278-2222. Parking will be available in Parking Structure One (Campus Map and Campus Map PDF). The first five floors are permit parking only (permits available for $6 from permit machines) while the sixth floor is free.
