MEN’S SOCCER SIGNS TWO MORE TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT, ADD ANOTHER TO ROSTER

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State men's soccer program announced two more National Letter of Intent signees for the 2018 season, including international midfielder Dane Schnell and California-native Arath Chavez. They have also added local standout Chris Cearlock as a walk-on.

Schnell, Chavez, and Cearlock will join the trio of signees announced in February.

Meet the Hornets:

Dane Schnell - 5-10 - MF - Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Kentigern College

Played for New Zealand in the U17 FIFA World Cup in Chile in 2015, going up against Brazil, France, and more...later, was a member of the New Zealand 2016 U19 national championship team...played three seasons at midfield for head coach Chris Zoricich at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland...recognized with multiple awards through first three seasons, including being named the New Zealand Nationals Saint Kentigern College MVP in both 2016 and 2017...was his club's captain in 2016...has also spent the last three years with Western Springs AFC in Auckland.

Linenberger on Dane: "Dane is an international student from New Zealand. We see him being our replacement for Paul Geyer. He has played at a very high level, as he represented New Zealand at the U-17 World Cup in Chile. He helped guide them to the second round where they narrowly lost to Brazil in a heartbreaker."

Arath Chavez - 5-4 - F - Galt, Calif./Galt High School

A forward, Arath played four seasons under head coaches Dane White and Alfredo Renteria for Galt High School...his teams compiled an 80-7-11 record during his time there...was named All-League three times during his career, as well as team captain and conference MVP for his junior campaign in 2017...as a sophomore, scored 29 goals and has 12 assists for a 70-point season...also played seven seasons with the Galt FC United, playing as a starting forward in the team's biggest tournaments over the last three years.

Linenberger on Arath: "Arath is a quick and clever attacking player. We can see him playing as a winger or as a second forward. We have had our eyes on him for a few years now and we are excited that he has finally signed with us."

Chris Cearlock - 5-9 - D/MF - Folsom, Calif./Folsom High School

Played four seasons at Folsom High School under head coach Michael McBride...was named second team all-league for the Sierra Foothill League for his 2017 season...helped lead that year's team to a perfect 21-0 record and the SFL championship...managed four goals and two assists that season despite playing every game as a left back...also played 10 seasons with the Folsom Lake Earthquakes club team...in 2015, won the Bay Area Fall Cup 3-0, scoring a goal and adding an assist...team went on to become the NorCal Premier Fall League Champion and Sacramento United Boys' Capitol Cup Champion.

Linenberger on Chris: "We are excited that Chris will be joining us. He is a great athlete with tremendous speed. He is a versatile player that can play all over the field, including play wide in the back, wide in midfield or as a winger."
