MEN'S GOLF FINISHES SECOND AT AMERICA SKY CHAMPIONSHIP DESPITE BEST ROUND

Cameron Rappleye led the team in the third round with a 1-under round of 70.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Sacramento State men's golf posted its best round of the America Sky Conference Championship on Wednesday but it was not enough to hold off Weber State for the team title.
The Hornets, who entered the final day with a one-stroke lead, shot 291 and concluded play with a three-round total of 887. Weber State jumped passed Sacramento State behind a third-round score of 287 and finished at 884.
On Wednesday, Cameron Rappleye led the team with a round of 70. Rappleye was the third different Hornet golfer to post the lowest score on the team in the tournament. Jake Johnson was second at 73 and Jordan Weir, Ryan Willams and Grant Rappleye each shot 74.
Weir had the best 54-hole finish, shooting 68-80-74-222 to tie for fifth. Cameron Rappleye and Williams tied for eighth place with a total of 223. Johnson was two strokes back in 11th and Grant Rappleye had a three-round total of 228 to finish 16th.
Weber State's Nick Despain led the Wildcat comeback en route to becoming the medalist. Despain shot 73-74-68-215 and his third round was the best of the day by two strokes.
The tournament was the final event of the year for Sacramento State.
