MEN'S GOLF POSTS BEST ROUND OF THE DAY; TIES FOR THIRD AT AMERICA SKY CHAMPIONSHIP

EDINBURG, Texas — With the help of the lowest team score of the day, the Sacramento State men's golf team finished tied for third place at the America Sky Golf Championship on Tuesday. The Hornets shot 301 during the final round at the Los Lagos Golf Club and finished the 54-hole event with a total of 316-315-301-932.

Host Texas Pan American maintained its first day lead and won the team title with a total of 299-311-307-917. Northern Colorado was second at 300-318-302-920 while Sacramento State and Houston Baptist tied for third.

The Hornets' final day push was led by Cameron Rappeleye's round of 73. The sophomore finished the tournament tied for eighth place with a total of 80-79-73-232. Nick Neal also tied for eighth at 72-84-76-232.

Grant Rappleye carded a round of 74 on Tuesday and finished tied for 18th at 81-83-74-238. Jake Pineo provided the final counting score in the third round with a 78 and tied for 20th overall at 85-76-78-239.

Jake Johnson completed the lineup with a total of 83-77-81-241 which tied for 25th.

Brandon Reyna of UTPA was the medalist after shooting 67-74-75-216. Houston Baptist's Sumin Yu was second at 73-74-73-220.

The America Sky also announced its all-conference teams. The top five finishers were named to the first team while the next five were part of the second team. Both Neal and Cameron Rappleye earned second team all-America Sky honors.
