4/19/2008

PROVO, Utah — Cody Miller and Scott DeBorba each shot 74 to lead the Sacramento State men’s golf team in its final round of the PING Cougar Classic, Saturday at the Riverside Golf Club. The Hornets finished in 14th place in their final tournament of the season.

New Mexico State held its first-day lead to win the team title. The Aggies shot 277-282-288-847 and finished 11 strokes ahead of both BYU (287-279-292) and Washington State (285-285-288). Saint Mary’s (279-284-297-860) and New Mexico (280-281-303-864) completed the top five.

Individually, Boise State’s Troy Merritt was the medalist after recording rounds of 70, 68 and 70. Merritt was followed by Nick Ellis and Austin Hurt of Washington State, who tied for second with a three-round total of 210.
