RAPPLEYE AND JOHNSON EACH SHOOT 72 TO CLOSE OUT BRAVEHEART CLASSIC

Cameron Rappleye tied for 12th place and had the highest finish on the team at the Braveheart Classic.
BEAUMONT, Calif. — Cameron Rappleye and Jake Johnson each shot an even-par 72 to help the Sacramento State men's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Braveheart Classic on Tuesday.
Rappleye moved into a tie for 12th place and had the best finish on the team. His total of 72-75-72-219 left him a 3-over for 54 holes.
Johnson, Grant Rappleye and Jake Pineo each shot 220 to tie for 16th. Johnson shot 77-71-72. His final two rounds either led of tied for the best on the team. Rappleye carded rounds of 68-75-76. Pineo set a career 54-hole low with rounds of 70-76-74 while competing as an individual.
Ryan Williams provided the final counting score on Tuesday. Williams finished 74-77-73-224 to tie for 26th.
Long Beach State captured the team title with a strong third round. The 49ers shot 277 on Tuesday, which was 12 strokes better than the next team, and finished at 296-297-277-870. Loyola Marymount (872), Saint Mary's (877), UC Santa Barbara (879) and Sacramento State (881) completed the top five.
Jake Sarnoff of Loyola Marymount maintained his first day lead to become the medalist. Sarnoff shot 67-69-72-208 and finished at 8-under.
Sacramento State concludes its season at the America Sky Championship on April 19-20 in Edinburgh, Texas.
