RAPPLEYES LEAD MEN'S GOLF IN FIRST ROUNDS OF FRESNO STATE LEXUS CLASSIC

FRESNO, Calif. — Cameron and Grant Rappleye are each among the top 20 golfers following the first two rounds of the Fresno State Lexus Classic on Monday at Sunnyside Country Club.
Grant Rappleye led the team during the opening round with a 69. However, he added a 79 in the afternoon and is tied for 19th with a 36-hole total of 148. Cameron posted the second lowest score in the morning (74) and followed with a 73 to place him in a tie for 16th.
Jake Johnson shot 80-75-155 and is tied for 63rd. The Hornets also counted rounds of 76 and 80 from Jordan Weir's 83-77-160.
The Fresno State Lexus Classic uses a rare format in which each team plays six golfers, counting the top five scores. San Diego State holds the team lead heading into the final day with a total of 366-355-721. The Aztecs are followed by Duke (377-361-738), UC Irvine (374-365-739), Pacific (375-366-741) and BYU (373-374-747) in the top five.
Individually, Pacific's Alex Johnson holds a two-shot lead after shotting 71-66-137.
The tournament concludes with a single round on Tuesday.
