JOHNSON AT 1-OVER THROUGH FIRST 36 HOLES OF WOLF PACK CLASSIC

STATELINE, Nev. — Sacramento State junior Jake Johnson shot rounds of 71 and 72 and is tied for 12th after the first two rounds of the Wolf Pack Classic on Monday at Edgewood Tahoe.
Johnson sparked a strong opening round by the Hornets, finishing at 1-under. Sacramento State was in sixth place after the round with a total score of 291. Along with Johnson's score, the team also counted an even-par 72 from Jake Pineo, a 73 from Cameron Rappleye and a 75 from Grant Rappleye.
The Hornets dropped to 12th place after totaling 303 in the later round which was finished just before darkness set in. Johnson, again, had the low with a 72. Cameron Rappleye (75), Grant Rappleye (75) and Pineo (81) provided the other three counting scores.
San Diego built a 12-stroke lead heading into the final round. The Toreros shot 280-284-564 behind the play of individual leader Alex Ching (67-70-137). Host Nevada is second at 576 and is followed by Fresno State (577), San Francisco (578) and Washington State (578).
The third round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start.
