GRANT RAPPLEYE LEADS MEN'S GOLF IN FIRST DAY OF PALOUSE COUGAR COLLEGIATE

PULLMAN, Wash. — Junior Grant Rappleye shot rounds of 70 and 71 and is tied for 16th place following the first day of the Palouse Cougar Collegiate on Monday.
As a team, the Hornets are in 12th place with a total of 286-295-581. Host Washington State holds the team lead heading into the final round with a total of 543. The Cougars are followed in the top five by Portland (553), Idaho (559), Santa Clara (564) and Loyola Marymount (565).
In the morning round, Jake Johnson paced Sacramento State with a round of 67. Rappleye was second with a 70 and the team also counted a 74 from Kyle Candlish and a 75 from Cameron Rappleye.
In the second round, Cameron (70) and Grant (71) carded the lowest scores. The final two counting scores came from Candlish and Jordan Weir, who each shot 77.
Jarred Bossio of Idaho and Washington State's Nick Ellis are tied for the individual lead with a 36-hole total of 133.
Cameron Rappleye (75-70-141) is tied for 37th. Johnson (67-79-146) is tied for 41st. Candlish (74-77-151) is tied for 75th and Weir is tied for 80th (76-77-153).
