GRANT RAPPLEYE LEADS MEN'S GOLF AT BRAVEHEART CLASSIC

BEAUMONT, Calif. — Sophomore Grant Rappleye tied for sixth place to lead the Sacramento State men's golf team at the Braveheart Classic on Tuesday at the Oak Valley Golf Club. Rappleye shot 73-73-71-217 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 1-over.

As a team, the Hornets placed sixth in the 15-team field. Sacramento State had rounds of 298, 295 and 295 for a total of 888. Arizona finished first at 858 and were followed by Long Beach State (878), Cal State Northridge (885), Santa Clara (885) and Loyola Marymount (886).

Individually, Tarquin Macmanus of Arizona was the medalist. Macmanus finished at 6-under with a total of 72-72-66-210.

For Sacramento State, Rappleye was followed by Kyle Candlish. The junior tied for 11th at 76-72-71-219. Jake Johnson and Nick Neal were part of a six-way tie for 39th. Johnson carded rounds of 74-76-79-229 while Neal shot 78-74-77-229.

Cameron Rappleye completed the lineup by tying for 52nd. Rappleye ended with a total of 234 comprised of rounds of 75-83-76.

The Hornets will next compete at the Fresno State Lexus Invitational beginning on March 8.
