STRONG TEAM EFFORT LEADS MEN;S GOLF TO FOURTH PLACE IN FIRST DAY OF ANTEATER INVITATIONAL

DOVE CANYON, Calif. — Three Sacramento State golfers are among the top 11 after the first two rounds of the Anteater Invitational, Monday at the Dove Canyon Country Club. The Hornets were led by Grant Norton, Scott DeBorba and Cameron Rappleye and are in fourth place heading into the final round.
Norton shot rounds of 76 and 72 and is tied for seventh place. The junior’s total places him eight strokes behind UC Irvine’s John Chin who holds the 36-hole lead with a score of 68-71-139.
DeBorba continued his hot play after shooting 70 and 79. The senior most recently finished first at the Cal Poly Men’s Intercollegiate on March 26 and 27.
Rappleye is tied with DeBorba for 11th place. The freshman shot 76-73-149. Sacramento State also counted rounds of 74 and 77 from freshman Jake Johnson, who is tied for 19th overall. Cody Miller is tied for 48th at 78-83-161.
UC Irvine is six strokes ahead of UTEP for the top team score. The Anteaters shot 289-296-585 to lead all teams in both rounds. The Hornets recorded 296 in the first round and followed with a 301 in the afternoon.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
