DeBORBA HOLDS INDIVIDUAL LEAD AFTER FIRST DAY OF CAL POLY INTERCOLLEGIATE

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. — Sacramento State senior Scott DeBorba posted rounds of 72 and 65 and holds a one shot lead heading into the final round of the Cal Poly Men’s Intercollegiate on Thursday.
DeBorba’s total of 137 leads Cal Poly’s Geoff Gonzalez for the top spot. The final round will take place on Friday morning. His second round score of 65 was the score recorded on the team this season.
The senior has helped Sacramento State into a tie for second place in the 12-team field. The Hornets shot 593 and are tied with British Columbia. The pair are 14 strokes behind host Cal Poly (579).
Along with DeBorba, Grant Norton and Jake Johnson are tied for 25th place. Norton shot 79-73-152 and was matched by Johnson (72-80-152). Freshman Cameron Rappleye is tied for 35th after shooting 79-76-155. Cody Miller completed the five at 76-82-158 which is tied for 46th place.
