MILLER SHOOTS 4-UNDER IN FIRST DAY OF NEVADA TOURNAMENT

RENO, Nev. — Sacramento State’s Cody Miller carded consecutive rounds of 70 and is 4-under following the first two rounds of the Wolf Pack Classic, Monday afternoon at the Wolf Run Golf Club. Miller’s 36-hole total of 140 ties him for fourth place with 18 holes remaining on Tuesday.
The Hornets are sixth in the 13-team field after shooting 290-284-574. New Mexico State and Tennessee hold the team lead at 568 while Arizona (569), Fresno State (570) and Kansas State (571) complete the top five.
Miller led Sacramento State in the opening round and was one of four scores counted by the team of 76 or better. Junior Grant Norton was one stroke behind with a 71 while freshman Jake Johnson recorded a 73 and Scott DeBorba tallied a 76.
In the afternoon round, Miller’s 70 was matched by freshman Cameron Rappleye who rebounded from an 80 in the opening 18. The Hornets also received a pair of 72s from Norton and Johnson. DeBorba added a 77.
Wichita State’s Dustin Garza has a six-stroke lead in the individual standings. Garza shot 67-65-132 and is 12-under after the first day. New Mexico State’s Kevin Lozares is the closest to Garza at 69-69-138.
