MEN'S GOLF FINISHES SEVENTH AT CAL POLY INTERCOLLEGIATE

 ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. — Scott DeBorba and Cody Miller each recorded their tournament lows in the third and final round of the Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The pair helped Sacramento State to a third-round 296 and lifted the Hornets into a seventh-place finish.
Kyle Candlish carded the best finish on the team, placing 12th with rounds of 75, 70 and 73. Loyola Marymount's Brian Locke was the medalist with a three-round total of 209. Locke opened with a 67 and followed with a 73 in Monday's two rounds. He added a 69 on Tuesday to finish three strokes ahead of the nearest competitor.
Sacramento State moved up one spot during the final day. The Hornets shot 308-290-296-894 and finished eight strokes out of the top five. Host Cal Poly captured the team title at 866.
Freshman Grant Norton ranked second on the Hornets. The Sheldon HS graduate shot 79-71-76-226 to tie for 35th. DeBorba and Miller both moved into a tie for 48th overall. DeBorba shot 73 on Tuesday while Miller fired a 74 to end at 228. Jeremy Harris rounded out the team at 79-71-76-226 to place 66th.
Sacramento State will have a short turnaround before going back to work on Monday at the OGIO/UCSB Invitational. The 54-hole event will take place in Solvang, Calif.
