MEN'S GOLF TIES 10TH BEST ROUND IN SCHOOL HISTORY

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Jeremy Harris led a Sacramento State attack which featured five scores under 73 in the second round of the CSUB Poor Boy Invitational on Monday. As a team, the Hornets shot 286 in the second round to tie the 10th-best round in school history. Sacramento State is currently in 10th place overall with a total score of 578.
After posting a 78 in the first round, Harris fired a career-low 70 in the second round to lead the team. Cody Miller, Kyle Candlish and Grant Norton were not far behind as each shot an even-par 72. Scott DeBorba completed the group with a 73.
Overall, Miller is tied for 12th with rounds of 70 and 72. Candlish is 1-under at 71-72-143 to tie for 16th and Norton is tied for 44th at 75-72-147. Harris (78-70-148) and DeBorba (76-73-149) are tied for 49th and 52nd, respectively.
UCLA dominated the field during the first day. The Bruins shot 271-280-551 and hold an 18-stroke lead over host Cal State Bakersfield. UCLA’s first round score broke the tournament record by four strokes. Individually, four players are under par led by Lucas Lee who shot 65-67-132. Cal State Stanislaus’ Eric Justensen is two strokes back in second place with rounds of 68 and 66.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes at the Seven Oaks Country Club.
