ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. --- Cody Miller shot a second-round 67 and finished the three-round Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate in a tie for 44th place to lead the Sacramento State men''s golf team.Miller opened the tournament with a 78 in Thursday''s first round. He then added a career-low 67 in the second round. That score is tied for the fourth lowest in school history. Miller concluded the tournament with an 81 on Friday.
Travis Bertoni of Cal Poly was the medalist with a total of 68-70-69-207. Cory Renfrew of the University of British Columbia was two strokes back in second while Brian Locke of Loyola Marymount and Cody Slover of Cal State Bakersfield tied for third at 213.
As a team, Cal State Bakersfield shot 285-285-287-857 to win the title. British Columbia ended a 871 to place second while Western Kentucky (872), Loyola Marymount (874) and Idaho (876) completed the top five. The Hornets shot 312-302-319-933 to end in 15th.
Miller''s total was nine strokes better than his closest teammate. John Bowen tied for 68th at 79-78-78-235. Chad Wood shot 78-77-81-236 to finish 70th. Brian Little (77-83-79-239) and Patrick Miller (88-80-82-250) completed the Sacramento State lineup.
The team will next compete at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by UC Santa Barbara on Apr. 3-4.
